Recovery of demand in the West European engineering steel market will be slow, according to a new report just published by Metals Consulting International [MCI]. With consumption of SBQ falling around 50% since 2007, a return to this level of demand is likely to take until perhaps 2014, as much production of auto components relocates from Western to Central and Eastern Europe.
